PURSUING LASTING CHANGE:
Bias, Behaviors, Belonging

CNPE's Changemakers Conference is returning in a big way this fall!

Our first conference since 2019 will be a day of optimism, of ideas, of inspiration, and of learning. What creates belonging? How do we stop "othering" each other? What does research teach us about how we can move beyond our divisions and build thriving organizations and communities?

Secure your place to hear keynote speakers john a. powell, Rachel Godsil, and more

Our morning keynote speaker is Perception Institute board chair and Othering and Belonging Institute director, john a. powell.

The afternoon keynote speaker is Rachel Godsil, co-founder and Senior Research Advisor of Perception Institute. Perception Institute turns research into remedies—designing studies, evaluations, interventions, and communications strategies. It crafts real-world solutions for everyday relationships, to help us all navigate differences.

Issues that stem from biases and "belonging" affect every part of our work – from how we retain employees to how we create inclusive fundraising plans to how we build a better organization, a better community, a better country – and a better world.

The day will be planned around Pursing Lasting Change and will dive deep in the origins of Bias, the positive and negative effects of Behaviors, and the impact that bias and behaviors have on us and our ability to feel a sense of Belonging.

And, of course, as always, this event will present many opportunities for networking and discussion with your peers in the nonprofit, foundation and corporate worlds. We have always been the premiere nonprofit conference in the region and, after a three-year hiatus, we will be back in a bigger and better way.

What do we mean when we talk about bias, behaviors, and belonging

This is not a program of typical DEI training sessions. This is a mind-expanding, attitude-shifting, empathy-building, and spirit-raising experience . . . based on the best brain research and social science, presented by the nation's leading authorities on understanding bias and behaviors and how we can better manage both for ourselves.

Do not miss this opportunity! Register now.

A new approach to the ChangeMakers Conference, a new partnership

This year's conference is being produced in partnership with Perception Institute, which is led by Louisville's own Sadiqa Reynolds. Perception Institute inspires people to live their values.

From their website:

Most Americans believe in racial and gender equality and reject discrimination in any form. Yet, stereotypes embedded in our brains, shaped over time by history and culture, can lead us to view the world through a biased lens and behave contrary to our deeply held egalitarian values.... Perception Institute engages in and translates the best mind science research on identity differences into solutions that can be applied to everyday individual and institutional interactions. We design research, workshops, and cultural products that advocate for systemic and societal remedies to discrimination.

Agenda:

8:30 - 9:30 AM: Registration and Networking

9:30 AM - 4:00 PM: Program Day

4:30 - 6:00 PM: Awards Reception & Ceremony (light hors d'oeuvre and bar only)
