Understanding key principles of nonprofit financials, how fundraising dollars are accounted for and reported, best practices in donor stewardship, ethics and transparency, ROI perspective, tax implication and year end reporting, auditing.

Instructors:

Chris Head is the Divisional Resource Development Director for The Salvation Army Kentucky Tennessee Division, serving in this position for the past 6 years. He has been employed in various nonprofit management roles since 2006 having experience with grass roots fundraising and large-scale organizations. Chris is an AFP Greater Louisville Chapter board member for the past 4 years and currently serves as President of the chapter for 2021.
Chris is a native Louisvillian having attended St. Margaret May catholic grade school, Trinity High School, and the University of Louisville, earning a Bachelor Degree in Sports Administration with a Minor in Communications. He studied nonprofit education from Indiana University, The Center on Philanthropy and North Carolina State University. Prior to his nonprofit career, Chris spent 16 years working for Kentucky State Parks in a variety of roles in Louisville and Frankfort. He has served on numerous boards over the years including Association of Fundraising Professionals, Kentucky Recreation & Parks Society, and The Louisville Sports Commission to name a few. Chris was named a Louisville Business First “Forty under Forty” Honoree.

Judy Simpson, CPA is an Audit Manager at Blue & Co. and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a double major in Accountancy and Finance. She has over 8 years of experience working with various not-for-profits. Judy loves serving her clients and be the person that you can call upon when questions come up. She is a part of the firm’s not-for-profit niche group team, sits on the Not-For-Profit Committee for the Kentucky CPA Society, and works hands-on with several Kentucky organizations serving on various boards and committees.
