Event Details

A “fundamentals” course in Planned Giving which we define as an opportunity for loyal donors of any means to make a transformational gift through their estate plans. Whether you are a newcomer to Development or a veteran who wants to refresh your understanding of “the basics” of Planned Giving, this is a course for all sizes of organizations. We will cover the types of planned gifts (and other special non-cash gifts); how to identify, engage, educate prospective donors; how to listen for a donor’s intention and needs; common terms and practices; marketing and explaining planned gifts; and also the ethical considerations and best practices of Development professionals.

Instructors:

Kim Rutherford is Divisional Director of Planned Giving for The Salvation Army and from her Louisville-based office oversees all planned gifts staff and programs in the bi-state region of Kentucky and Tennessee. Prior to this, she held a similar senior role in planned giving for Salvation Army in her native home state of Virginia.

Angela Moderow is Regional Planned Giving Director for The Salvation Army and oversees all planned gift activities in Tennessee. Angela has also served as Director of Marketing and Development for A Step Ahead Foundation and was Vice President of Marketing and Communications at YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South. Angela obtained her BA and MBA from William Woods University.
