Annual Giving is the heart of all fundraising programs, where new donors are first recruited as supporters and this is the seedbed of a thriving base of philanthropy. We will cover the fundamentals of creating and sustaining an annual giving fundraising program for all size organizations, including donor discovery, the "basics" of goal-setting, defining and planning donor appeals including: mail; email; online; social media and events, database management, and how to make optimal use of volunteers.

Instructors:

Katina Whitlock recently joined GE Appliances as a member of the Corporate Citizenship team leading the Community Engagement Pilar. In this role she will build the strategy for GEA's philanthropy and volunteer initiatives by designing a metrics-based system demonstrating the organization's impact and reputation as a national leader in corporate citizenship. Katina's background in journalism, government, and nonprofit leadership bring a unique combination of skills and expertise to the role. Prior to GE, Katina served as the Senior Manager of Philanthropy at Kentucky Science Center leading all fundraising, special events, and board relation efforts. Additional nonprofit experience includes the University of Louisville, Louisville Urban League and the WHAS Crusade for Children successfully raising more than $15 million in philanthropic support for education, health and social service programs across the region. As Director of Community Services for Louisville Metro Government, Katina managed the city's social services programs and served as Mayor Greg Fischer's Veterans Liaison guiding the city's response to Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden's Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness. Katina is a native of Louisville and graduate of the University of Louisville where she completed a Master of Arts in Communication and undergraduate degrees in Communication and Spanish with a minor in Pan African Studies.
