Duties and Responsibilities

JFCS is seeking a Communications Manager who will support all marketing and communications activities. The Associate will serve on the JFCS Mission Advancement team and will report to the Director of Mission Advancement.

The Communications Manager will generate compelling content for and manage the day-to-day operations of all communications platforms including but not limited to the JFCS website, newsletters, marketing materials, social media and press releases. The Manager will be responsible for building, maintaining and executing the organizational communications calendar and for ensuring adherence to JFCS brand guidelines. As an externally facing member of the Mission Advancement team, the Manager will provide an exceptional customer service experience to all constituents to help build lasting relationships and meet development goals and strategic imperatives.

The Manager will work across the Mission Advancement team as well as cross-departmentally to execute all aspects of the communications and marketing plan for the organization.  

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications, Competencies, and Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree and two or more years communications, journalism or public relations experience is preferred. Applicants with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in related fields will also be considered.
  • A passion for the JFCS vision, mission and values and a desire to help “repair the world”
  • A basic knowledge and the eagerness to learn the role communications plays in mission advancement and donor stewardship
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize general and program-specific computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite, email marketing platforms, social media platforms and tools required; Adobe Creative Cloud preferred)
  • The ability to verbally and visually articulate the JFCS story to both internal and external constituents, providing compelling and informative content for the Mission Advancement team and others in the organization
  • An enthusiasm to connect the JFCS story with the community - listening, understanding and responding with timeliness, accuracy and clarity
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (face-to-face, phone, emails, letter writing)
  • Ability to create and manage a communication plan and calendar
  • Desire to serve as a JFCS “brand guardian” along with the CEO, Director of Mission Advancement and other Mission Advancement team members
  • Ability to develop constructive, cooperative, and respectful relationships with others and coordinate the efforts of vendors, designers, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to excels in a fast-paced environment working both collaboratively and autonomously when required
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Prefers high expectations
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality of prospect and donor information
  • Effectively operate typical office equipment (telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, mail machine, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Travel Requirement: Occasional local travel
